Come On In--Taylor and Trynlee's Room

in , , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 4:00 AM
When we designed our house, we knew that we would be trying for more children so planned for the nursery to be right across the hall from our room.  We also designed for it to transition well into an office when our kids are older.  I had it mapped out perfectly as to where I would put the crib and the matching dresser.

Fast forward to our first ultrasound in May of 2017 when our house was only a couple of months from being finished.  We were in that dark ultrasound room when the sonographer excitedly showed us our baby's heartbeat and then scanned over a bit and said, "And there are two!"  After struggling with infertility and a late miscarriage, Gavin and I were over the moon to be to this point and just as over the moon to be entrusted with two sweet babies.  Don't get me wrong, there were moments of panic at the thoughts of twin complications and two newborns, but mostly excitement.

That perfectly mapped out nursery just wasn't going to fit two cribs though so we had to do some rethinking!  And to be honest, we would rethink it and never really came up with anything that I loved.  Every plan always ended up with a crib or dresser in front of the window which I just wasn't thrilled with.  The room isn't very big and only has two walls without windows.  We originally had a bench seat planned to go in between the two closets and under the window but when the Amish delivered all of our cabinetry, they had forgot to make the bench seat.  I had mentioned several times that we shouldn't have done the bench seat and instead should have a dresser built for that space.  I promise I didn't call them and cancel the bench seat order, but after it didn't show up, I quickly met with them to make the dresser! :-)

Without further ado, COME ON IT to Taylor and Trynlee's room!
When they were itty bitty babies, Gavin would sit in the rocker in the middle of the night and I would sit on the ottoman to feed them.  We could do it with our eyes clothes by the time they were 6 months old.
I ordered their name signs from Etsy.  Click HERE for the exact link.  I actually ordered them as I was sitting in the NICU one day and the nursery sat as a collection space from when we moved.
One of the cribs was Treyton's and then we just had the Amish make us a matching one.  They will eventually convert to full size beds.  The matching dresser that we had originally had with the crib is in Treyton's room.

Their sheets are from Carousel Designs.  I have two different light pink designed ones.  The ones in the pictures can be found HERE.  I had crib skirts from Pottery Barn when their mattresses were higher.
Their curtains match the crib skirts but I didn't see them on the website any longer.
And that's all there is!

Have a great Monday and a great start to your week!  Next up is a weekend recap...that my computer is still working on loading! #soannoying

Let's Look--Our Pantry

in , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 4:30 AM
Today, I am linking up with a couple of my favorite bloggers, Shay at Mix and Match Mama and Erika at A Little Bit Of Everything.  Each month, they take a look at some thing special.  I will add their monthly list at the bottom of this blog post.
 This month---YOUR PANTRY!

So--COME ON IN--and take a look at our pantry!

When we were designing our house, I will admit that our pantry was one space that we didn't totally agree on.  Not necessarily the shape or space, but rather the door into our pantry.  Gavin had always wanted a "hidden" pantry, one that just looks like a cabinet in the kitchen.  I, on the other hand, wanted a rustic door that was part glass or even some type of barn door.

I lost that decision.

And I couldn't be happier that I lost.  (Gavin rarely reads this--I'd never admit this to him! ;-) Lol!)

There is a reason that he is a general contractor, that works with home owners designing their houses, every day, and I am an elementary teacher. ;-)

See those two "cabinet doors" to the left of our fridge?
That is actually our pantry!
When you open them both up, this is what you see!  We have a standing deep freeze in there, and it has been wonderful.  Instead of having to run to the basement or out to the garage, all of our frozen stuff is right there!
I have a very love hate relationship with this space.  It holds A LOT, which I am SUPER grateful for.  It however can be the catch all for anything that needs to be hidden or I can't find a space for.
I typically store all of our canned goods down on the open drawers below but this is seriously the girls' FAVORITE place to play.  Those cans were their favorite thing to carry around, and after Trynlee dropped one on her toe, they have all been moved.
I really want to visit the Container store and come up with some better organization on all of the shelves and drawers but it all works for now.
The drawers were once very organized and everything had its place, but Taylor and Trynlee pull just about every thing out of the drawers every single night and then put it all back on their own.  I'm thankful that they put it all back for the most part and have just decided to let the neatly organized drawers go.  They do however always keep their snacks on that bottom left drawer! Ha!
Our Dyson Stick hangs right inside the doors in its charger.  That thing is quite possibly my favorite household item.  It you don't have one, you should.  And if you need a gift for someone special in your life, click HERE!
As I was taking pictures, Taylor found where I stored all of the plastic grocery bags and it quickly turned into a mess.
I could take a picture like this almost nightly.  They all play in there.  Shut themselves or each other in. Giggle.  It's easy entertainment and makes getting supper started just a little bit easier each night.
The bag situation quickly turned out of control.  And made me realize once again that I need to buy reusable bags.
Treyton then carried the little trash can (just where I keep shoving them) out to the living room where they continued to pull them out and then put them back in.
One of my absolute favorite things about our pantry, though, is that I can shut the doors whether is it neatly organized or not and for the most part, no one ever sees it!
There you have it!

A peek inside our pantry!  If you have any great organizing hacks, please let me know!!

Next month will be about your favorite Outfit Of The Day if you'd like to join!

Come On In--Our Master

in , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 4:30 AM
Welcome back for another peek inside our home!

I am excited to share with you today---our master bedroom.  Next to all of the family time spent in our living room, our master bedroom is probably the most calming room in our house.  It's simple, generally organized, and I would choose to lay in bed and read or watch TV than to sit on the couch.

I'll try to link things if you're interested but if I miss something just ask!

Come on in!!
We had the Amish make our bed.  I actually found a picture and DIY plan online and he only took the picture from me!
Our bedding is from Ballard Design.  The exact link is HERE.  I also love THESE plain white sheets from Amazon.  They are $30 and are a decent quality.  I hate spending a lot of money on white sheets when I know that I will inevitably be replacing them.
The lamps and picture frame are from Walmart! :-) If you are willing to look for items and watch items until they go on sale, Walmart can be a good spot!  I also love my Apple device stand.  I can charge my phone wirelessly, my watch, and my AirPods all in one place.  It does require three outlets but I've been really happy with it.  You can find that HERE.   We also each have an Owlet on our night stands and we LOVE them.  You can find those HERE.

If you are looking to team up with some friends or are a grandparent looking to buy a quality item, this would probably be one of my biggest recommendations!
I'm working on finding something to hang on our walls but I don't mind them just being simple either.
Gavin has a different wireless charger for his iPhone and Apple watch.  It can be found HERE.  He also has the monitor that we use to see all of our munchkins.  This would probably be my top baby registry item.  You can find our exact model HERE.  We've had great luck with it and Motorola has been easy to work with if something doesn't work.
I got this sign from Smallwoods.  They run some really good deals if you sign up for their emails.
I have officially not decorated our bathroom at all.
Our main level laundry is in our closet and I would NEVER go away from it.  I love having everything right there.  My only thing I would do differently would be to have a door so I could close it off and not have to look at it.  Laundry is my biggest weakness.  I despise folding it!
And our closet!

Hope you enjoyed another peak inside our house! I will be back next week with our kiddos bedrooms and will hopefully get to our basement in a couple of weeks!

Have a great day and don't forget to check back later in the week!!

Come On In--Our Living Room!

in , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 5:00 AM
Happy Tuesday!

I am starting a new series today and my hope is to share a room of our house over the next several weeks.  I love getting ideas from other posts just like this!

I don't have any set schedule so if you'd like to see something, let me know!

We have lived in our house for about a year and a half and previously lived in a finished apartment inside of Gavin's shop for 5 years.  It was fully finished and furnished so we certainly weren't "roughing it" but his office was right outside our living room door and his employees showed up at 7am.  Our kitchen was also a show room on the main level, detached from the rest of our living space.  To say that we were excited for our house to be completed is an understatement.

Come on in...to our living room!

We designed our entire house around this one area and love how it all turned out.  I'm not sure we have anything that we would change at this point.  Our floor plan is very open so 99% of our time is spent in this room and the kitchen.

I also took pictures as my kids were playing... so you can play a little I Spy. :-)
Santa brought the plastic playhouse and kitchen for our kids this Christmas and I had full intentions of it moving quickly to the basement.  But....they seriously play in it every single day, all day long so it is just staying put until summer.  I am shocked at how entertained it keeps all three of them.  Our house is very "lived in" so there are toys that line our walls and bookshelves that no longer hold books or decor, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
On each side of our fireplace, we have built in shelves.  Every thing on each side is just a hodge podge of things I have collected for several years.  I get almost all of my floral arrangements and greenery from a local boutique.  The baskets on the bottom of each side though are full of diggers and farm equipment.

I tried to get a picture looking out from our kitchen into the living room but with all of the dang snow out there this was about as light as I could get it.  There is one more window up top that I apparently cut out.
This picture is standing up by the fire place.  The kitchen is to the left and windows on the right.
Our dining room table.  :-)  A friend of a friend found the shutters for me and my grandpa painted them.  He also spray painted the Gather sign that I found on Etsy.
And standing back by the dining room table looking into the kitchen!

There you have it! :-)

If you have any questions on where something is from, let me know and I will do my best to find a link or let you know who made it.

I'll be back next week to share another room!
