TAY AND TRYN ARE 3!

in , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 2:06 PM

From 3lb miracles to 3 years old!  I can remember the day that they were born like it was yesterday.  The days leading up to them being born were stressful and full of hope that I could stay pregnant for several more weeks.  Then on that Friday morning when I woke up in denial that I was in labor and delayed telling the nurses that I was having fairly painful contractions.  To think that they were whisked away from us when they were born to be stabilized to now they're talking nonstop, running around like crazies, and are perfectly healthy is mind blowing!

Happy birthday, Taylor and Trynlee!  We love you to the moon and back!

FLASHBACK: FEBRUARY 2020

in , , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 4:55 PM

Just a little photo dump from February 2020!

It's still crazy to think back to what normal life used to be like and I pray that we are getting closer to getting back to that.  Back to my kids not feeling anxious being around their own family members, back to when it was normal to SEE peoples' faces, and when we all didn't second guess every decision we made!

If you have missed my last couple of flashback posts, I am attempting to get my blog caught up from taking a lot of the year off.  I use this a my kids baby books so I am trying to keep things in order for that reason.  It is fun to look back at these pictures too and see just how much my kids have grown in 10 months.

FLASHBACK: DECEMBER 2019

We started off December of 2019 strong!!  We decorated our whole house and Christmas the Elf showed up on December 1st with our North Pole breakfast.  He actually just showed up yesterday and as I am looking at pictures, I noticed that Treyton had those yellow football pants on in both....December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020!  Hah!!

Gavin & Kylie Plus FOUR!

Eeeek!!!

In November, we shared with our family and friends that we are SOOO excited (and maybe a little bit crazy) to be welcoming Baby Steege # 4 into our family in May!

We let Treyton call all of his grandparents, family, and closest friends and let them know!

We had some family pictures taken to help spread the news as well.  Beth captured all of these pictures in less than 10 minutes, 20 feet from our garage, with the combine parked 6 rows over!

Taylor & Trynlee Turn 2!

The girls' birthday brings up lots of emotions for me!

The fact that they turned 2 on November 3rd seems a bit impossible but we are sooo thankful for them!

We had a surprise birthday party for my dad the night before, and flew my brother home from LA, so Uncle Kolt got to be here for their birthday as well.

Pumpkin Patch--3rd Annual Trip

in , , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 1:45 PM
For the last 3 years, right around harvest, we have headed to Chicago to visit an amazing pumpkin patch and apple orchard.  We stay with my bestie, Jenna's, parents and spend the day at Kuiper's.

Gavin was in the field this year after a very wet harvest so it ended up being a mom and kiddo trip!  Lots of driving but so much fun!

Taylor and Trynlee: 18 Months

18 Months!
I know that it is super cliche to say that time has flown.....but it has!  I can still remember how scary their first couple of days were, how painfully slow our time in the NICU was, and that first day at home.  But as I spent some time today falling through a rabbit hole looking at pictures of them, I can truly say that so much of it is a blur!  It makes me kind of sad, as my babies are now toddlers, but so happy to watch them grow into lively, funny, happy little people.
Taylor continues to be an inch or so taller and a pound or so heavier.  Trynlee is just a petite little thing, although everyone would guess the opposite.
They are FUNNNYYY!!!  They both giggle and are starting to know when they are being funny.  They also are starting to throw fits.  Trynlee likes to throw herself on the floor and Taylor is beginning to throw things when she gets mad. I have a feeling that this next year is going to be loads of fun...in more ways than one. :-)

Clothes:
12-18 month stuff depending on the brand.  Typically small pants than tops.
Food:
Anything and everything!  They both love fruit, but Trynlee especially loves meat.

Sleep:
We certainly can't complain.  They both sleep religiously through the night and take 1-2 decent naps throughout the day.
Taylor sleeps with her blankey and a paci.  (I need to just take it away but I'm a tad selfish with my own sleep.)
Trynlee has recently started wanting a blankey as well and also likes to take a sippy of water with her to bed.

Diapers:
Still rocking Size 3
Favorites:
SHOES--like obsessed!
Carrying clothes around and trying to put them on
Ball pit
High chairs (buckling)
Baby stroller
Push toys outside
Easter eggs
Being in the sandbox outside
Stroller rides
Stealing toys from each other and "running"
Showers
Hair:
Trynlee got her first haircut on Easter weekend to try and shape up her mullet a little bit.  I'm happy to report that it looks a tad better!  Phew!
Taylor's hair is getting really long in the front and has to be in a pony or it is in her eyes.  She also has some curls in the back by her neck, which I have no idea where they have come from.
Speech:
Taylor: no, mama, Daddy, Mya, puppy, ball, shoes, eyes, blankby (blankey), more, paci, seat, and will mimic just about anything.
Trynlee: no, Mya, mama, daaa, eyes, shoes, noes, seat, drink, Tay Tay, and likes to yell/grunt more than anything.

We love you baby girls and are so so blessed to get to be your parents!

Come On In--Taylor and Trynlee's Room

in , , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 4:00 AM
When we designed our house, we knew that we would be trying for more children so planned for the nursery to be right across the hall from our room.  We also designed for it to transition well into an office when our kids are older.  I had it mapped out perfectly as to where I would put the crib and the matching dresser.

Fast forward to our first ultrasound in May of 2017 when our house was only a couple of months from being finished.  We were in that dark ultrasound room when the sonographer excitedly showed us our baby's heartbeat and then scanned over a bit and said, "And there are two!"  After struggling with infertility and a late miscarriage, Gavin and I were over the moon to be to this point and just as over the moon to be entrusted with two sweet babies.  Don't get me wrong, there were moments of panic at the thoughts of twin complications and two newborns, but mostly excitement.

That perfectly mapped out nursery just wasn't going to fit two cribs though so we had to do some rethinking!  And to be honest, we would rethink it and never really came up with anything that I loved.  Every plan always ended up with a crib or dresser in front of the window which I just wasn't thrilled with.  The room isn't very big and only has two walls without windows.  We originally had a bench seat planned to go in between the two closets and under the window but when the Amish delivered all of our cabinetry, they had forgot to make the bench seat.  I had mentioned several times that we shouldn't have done the bench seat and instead should have a dresser built for that space.  I promise I didn't call them and cancel the bench seat order, but after it didn't show up, I quickly met with them to make the dresser! :-)

Without further ado, COME ON IT to Taylor and Trynlee's room!
When they were itty bitty babies, Gavin would sit in the rocker in the middle of the night and I would sit on the ottoman to feed them.  We could do it with our eyes clothes by the time they were 6 months old.
I ordered their name signs from Etsy.  Click HERE for the exact link.  I actually ordered them as I was sitting in the NICU one day and the nursery sat as a collection space from when we moved.
One of the cribs was Treyton's and then we just had the Amish make us a matching one.  They will eventually convert to full size beds.  The matching dresser that we had originally had with the crib is in Treyton's room.

Their sheets are from Carousel Designs.  I have two different light pink designed ones.  The ones in the pictures can be found HERE.  I had crib skirts from Pottery Barn when their mattresses were higher.
Their curtains match the crib skirts but I didn't see them on the website any longer.
And that's all there is!

Have a great Monday and a great start to your week!  Next up is a weekend recap...that my computer is still working on loading! #soannoying

Trip to LA: Disneyland!!

in , , , , , , by Gavin and Kylie Plus 4, 4:30 AM
The day we were all sooo excited about!

DISNEYLAND!!!

We started our morning off early and left our house by 6:30 so that we could make it there, get parked, and to Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast with the characters.  If you had asked Treyton before our trip what we were going to be doing, we would have told you we were going to eat breakfast with Goofy.  He was sooooo excited!  In fact, he thought Goofy lived with Kolton and Emmy for quite some time prior to our trip.
It took us about an hour and a half to get there and then parking became a real big struggle.  Next time, I will plan out where we are going to park as well.  We lost Kolton in traffic so we were both trying to find the same spot.  Needless to say, our 20 minutes to get parked and to Goofy's kitchen turned into 5 minutes and I power walked with a double stroller a mile and a half to get there with only a couple of minutes to spare before they let our reservation go.  Ooofta!  I was panicking that Treyton wasn't going to get to do the one thing he was most excited bout.

Breakfast went great!  Treyton actually got close to the characters, and I got the chance to stop sweating from my unplanned workout!
When Uncle Kolt and Emmy take you to the breakfast buffet, you come back with an ice cream cone.  It was vacation, right?!

After breakfast, we made the quick walk through Downtown Disney and into the park!  And holy moly, the sea of strollers was unbelievable!  If nothing else, my faith in humanity was restored a bit as we left our stroller completely packed with our belongings in stroller parking at every ride throughout the day and came back to everything still there.

Guys!  Disney, plain and simple, has things figured out!  They know how to get people in line effectively.  It's clean.  The "cast members" aka workers know the ins and outs of everything.  And it was super clean!
My one piece of advice--get the FAST PASS!  It is worth every stinking penny!  We were able to ride double the amount of rides and the wait times were manageable with three little kids only because we all had fast passes.  Almost every ride had two lines--the standby lane and the fast pass lane.  The fast pass lane moved remarkably faster.  Emmy was a pro at securing us fast passes as quickly as she could and knew what rides Treyton would be able to ride.  It was all done through their app and we were able to link our group in our apps so that she could get all of us a fast pass for the same ride.   It only allows you to have a fast pass for one ride at a time and will only allow you to get one every so often, so you have to check back in on your phone throughout the day.  It was slick and easy to use.
Treyton's favorite ride by far was Buzz Lightyears.  He could have rode it all day and was disappointed he was able to ride it two times in a row like at Six Flags.  We were able to ride it 3 or 4 different times though with Fast Passes.  You ride in a cart and had a gun to shoot at targets throughout the ride.  My brother and Emmy have even researched how to get the most points on the ride.  They are slightly competitive.
We attempted to buy him several different things throughout the day, and the whole time the only thing he wanted was a skidloader.  #notshocking After riding the Buzz ride several times though, he did finally want a Buzz arm.  It can grab and spin and we has played with it nonstop since he got it.
These pictures of the girls accurately describe their personalities right now!
The girls took some decent stroller naps while we continued to ride some rides so we just traded off who stayed with them and who went on the ride.
Experiencing Disney with a 3 year old was truly magical.  No, he wasn't old enough or tall enough to do a lot of things, but he was just so excited about everything he did get to do.  We would be standing in line for something, and he would whisper to Gavin and I that he loved us.
Gosh I love this little boy so much!

We had such a fun day!  I am excited to go to Disney World and/or possibly a Disney cruise in the future when they are all a bit older as well!  I remember it from when I was younger and I know they will love that just as much.

Tomorrow, I will have our last couple of days in LA!  Make sure you check back to see what we were up to!
